About

William SmithWS Consultancy assists singers and musicians who have made commercial recordings which if broadcast maybe entitled to royalties from the PPL.

William L Smith grew up in a family heavily involved with the music business with his father being the co-founder and Managing Director of Management Agency And Music – the first publicly listed record company and accountant and business manager of Sir Tom Jones from 1964 until 2001.

Having worked for MAM and Chrysalis Records in the late 1990s, William moves into artist management and attended a course run by the Music Managers Forum which introduced him to Collection Societies.   It was at this time that due to a directive from the EU legislative that PAMRA was set up.

The aim of PAMRA was to give performers who played on recordings the ability to claim and collect the royalties they were entitled to and having spotted a niche in the market W.S. Consultancy came into being.  PAMRA was incorporated into the PPL, which licences companies and premises that broadcast music and distributes the royalties due to the performers.

W.S. Consultancy represents over 160 performers from all genres of music from classical musicians to big bands, through to solo artists, groups and choirs.
